Message Well that isn't truely a Hoax. What that "box" or "mod" does is stop the temperature gauge from registering the "accurate" temperature of your intake air. Now the stock gauge is of course off due to the fact that it is surrounded by your rediculously hot Z engine, so replacing the sensor with a unit that gives a constant readout to your ECU tells the ECU the air is cold, and therefore dense, so pump in more gas and lets go. The problem with this is that Z's timing is already fairly far advanced, and if you are wanting to change your timing it is much better to advance it through your CAS, not through that method. Overall you are buying a $.10 resistor from radioshack, and I highly do not recommend you put it in your Z. If you do, there is a good chance it will advance the timing too far, and cause the knock retard to kick in, which limits your timing preventing "pinging." Your ignition actually fires to burn the gas in your engine while the pistons are still on the rise, so that when the hit their peak, the explosion takes place, thrusting it downward (optimum timing) Now it is possible to advance your timing a tad, to get as close as possible to that mark. If, however, you screw up and send it too far, and your knock retard fails, your ignition will spark too early, and the explosion will take place while the piston is on the rise, creating a shockwave, and loud "PING PING PING PING PING PING PING" followed by your outcrys of "WTF" followed by your outcries of "F" and if you don't realize soon enough and turn your engine off asap, you'll royall f up your entire block, and good luck getting it to run perfectly again.

Bottom line, unless you know exactly what it is going to do, and exactly how to use it properly, stay away from that mod, as there are much better ways to advance your timing that are both more effective and safer.
